International Court of Justice in The Hague

Ukraine has lodged a complaint against Russia at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Sunday.

“Russia must be held accountable for manipulating the notion of genocide to justify aggression,” President Zelensky declared in a tweet, “we request an urgent decision ordering Russia to cease military activity now and expect trials to start next week.”

For its part, the Ukrainian Parliament said in a statement that it was appealing to the International Court of Justice to investigate the crimes of the Russian regime against Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and other countries. The Parliament also appealed to the world to sever diplomatic relations with Russia, and not to recognize it as a member of the United Nations, as well as to hold Moscow responsible for manipulating the concept of genocide to justify aggression, requesting an urgent decision ordering Russia to stop military activity immediately.

Earlier today, the Ukrainian Parliament had proposed filing a lawsuit against Russia before the International Court of Justice.
