As Qatar gears up to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022(TM), Education City invites the football-loving community to submit original football designs that will be on display and sold as part of its fun merchandise. If selected, you will be given credit for your work as your name will be featured on the packaging and promotional materials.

When did you last spend time at a library? Visit the Museum of Islamic Arts Library today for the ‘Beautiful Memories of Palestine’ exhibition. MIA has opened its extensive rare book collection, once again, to present a selection of books highlighting the beauty of Palestine over the last five hundred years.

MIA Library presents a pictorial journey through Palestine, where the majority of books included in the exhibition range in date from 1610 to 1930 CE and are written in European languages, originally published as travel journals, stories, and histories.

This is an introduction to watercolor painting focusing on the use of the transparent medium to explore both abstract and realistic subjects. On Saturday, October 16, visit Qatar National Library for an Art Trail exhibition titled: ‘Between Science and Art: Early Photography in the Middle East’. The guided tour which will be led by the exhibition curator Giulia Martini will uncover the works of many of the earliest photographers–scientists, chemists, engineers, and archaeologists, who did not even consider themselves artists. The stories of those first practitioners are the focus of the exhibition, which will display some of the earliest images taken in the Middle East.

If your kids love films then be sure to sign them up for the Ajyal Film Festival. The festival lasts for 13 days and you can discover global cultures through the powerful medium of film. Last year, Ajyal welcomed over 400 jurors of 45 nationalities–you can be one of them this year!

Join the Ajyal Film Festival Jury from 7 – 19 November 2021.

As an Ajyal Juror, you will get to:

1. Watch short and feature-length films from all over the world, both online and in the theatre.
2. Vote for your favourite films and choose the Ajyal Competition winners.
3. Meet internationally renowned and thought-provoking guests.
4. Attend online workshops and masterclasses on filmmaking techniques and film language.

Jury Categories

There are three Ajyal Competition juries in three age groups. They are:

Mohaq: Mohaq means ‘New Moon’ in Arabic, and these are Ajyal’s youngest jurors, aged 8 to 12. The young people of this jury will watch a programme of short films and four feature-length films.Hilal: Ajyal’s jurors aged 13 to 17 make up the Hilal jury – the term means ‘Crescent Moon’ in Arabic. Four feature films and a programme of shorts make up the Hilal jury’s festival programme.Bader: The most mature of Ajyal’s juries, Bader (Arabic for ‘Full Moon’) jurors are aged 18 to 25 and will select their favourite films from five features and two programmes of short films.

You’re just a few clicks away from joining the Ajyal Jury experience for 2021. The registration is open from 22 August to 24 October, and you must be between the ages of 8 and 25 to enroll. The registration process will require a one-time participation fee to secure your place, as outlined below.
