The State of Qatar has won the World Summit on Digital Innovation 2021, in the category of government and citizen engagement, through “TASMU Platform“, which is the basis for the digital infrastructure of smart Qatar.

The TASMU Platform was selected and nominated among 40 winners, five for each of the eight categories of the award announced by the award office, out of a total of 800 nominations from more than 100 countries participating in the award.

The platform is based on cloud computing technology, to provide services at the national level to all state institutions, the private sector and developers, to store and analyze big data, and link it to a set of comprehensive technical solutions as payment gateways, data analytics, weather, and traffic control systems.

5G and IoT, and AI are available to public and private sectors, as well as developers across the country. This reflects why the TASMU Platform sits at the heart of all services and smart solutions that will be provided in Qatar.

The TASMU Platform performs three fundamental functions. Firstly, it promotes communication between government entities, businesses, and individuals across sectors to ensure collaborative efforts when developing smart solutions in Qatar.

Secondly, it provides the public and private sectors with advanced technologies that can be utilized to develop smart solutions and applications that meet national KPIs. Third it stores and analyzes national data across all organizations in Qatar.

These three functions support the achievement of the long-term goals of TASMU Program, which was launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MOTC), as a digital response to the Qatar National Vision 2030. It contributes to developing government performance, supporting joint work between different sectors, raising the quality of products, maintaining the sustainability of resources, and providing an integrated experience for users to simplify the performance of tasks, facilitate access to services and overcome obstacles to ensure a better life for the individual and society.

H.E. Mrs. Reem Mohammed Al Mansoori, Assistant Undersecretary of Digital Society Development at the MOTC said that Qatar has achieved this recognition as a result of its commitment to digital to become a leading smart country.

She noted that technology helps achieve social, economic and environmental goals, and that TASMU enables cooperation between the government and the private sector to develop smart solutions for citizens and visitors. World Summit Award 2021 includes eight award categories, namely, government and citizen engagement, health and wellbeing, environment and green energy, business and commerce, learning and education, culture and tourism, smart settlements and urbanization, and inclusion and empowerment.
