Qatar Basketball Federation announced in a tweet on 5 May 2022, the victory of the Qatar national basketball team against UAE at the 2025 Asian Cup preliminary Asian qualifiers.
They further celebrated the victory as this is the first national basketball team.
The defeating score was 54-48 securing Qatar’s place in Group A of the final 2025 Asian Cup Pre-Qualifier.
The win allowed Qatar to enter the second round of the tournament with an unbeaten record.
Al Gharafa Sports Club Multi-Purpose Hall was the location at which the match took place on 5 May 2022, the top scorer was Babacar Dieng who scored 13 points and Moustafa Essam A Fouda scored 11 points.
Moving forward to the next rounds, the second round will watch the three top teams from Groups A and B, competing within Group E. The top teams of Groups C and D will be seen battling within Group F. Consequently, the winning two teams of Groups E and F will qualify for FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers.
