HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi with HE Nadhim Zahawi
Governments of the State of Qatar and United Kingdom signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on enhancing bilateral relations between both countries in the sector of education and increasing understanding and knowledge exchange between the two states through expanding educational partnerships.
The Qatari Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, and British Secretary of State for Education HE Nadhim Zahawi signed the MoU, during a meeting they held in Doha to discuss areas of educational cooperation meeting.
The signing of the MoU came as an affirmation of the two governments’ desire to promote and develop cooperation in educational fields of common interest with a special focus on supporting the human development pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030, and the State of Qatar’s constant strive to reach a knowledge-based economy. In addition to cooperation in the fields of sustainability, climate change, standards for educational qualification and vocational development, adoption of educational qualifications in blended and distance education, in addition to special education and educational technologies, as well as the exchange of experiences and cooperation between higher education institutions and research centers.
HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education commented in a statement to the press following the signing of the MoU on Educational Cooperation that this would widen the horizons for cooperation between both states, enhance the exchange of experience, and apply best practices.
Her Excellency added that the MoU particularly influences the domain of educational governance and policies, such as education technology, vocational education, and quality assurance in schools and higher education institutions, in addition to catering to the educational needs of students with disabilities, and other topics of interest.
Concluding her press statement, HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education thanked her British counterpart for his role in advancing educational cooperation to the benefit of both countries.
