Qatari driver Nasser bin Saleh Al-Attiyah won the 39th edition of the Jordan International Rally, the fourth round of the 2022 Middle East Rally Championship, which took place in the Dead Sea region on 21 May 2022.

Al-Attiyah dominated the rally

Al-Attiyah dominated the rally by winning his tenth title in a row and the fifteenth in the history of Al-Attiyah’s participation in the Jordan Rally out of nineteen participation.

This victory is also the 81st in the Qatari driver’s career during his participation in the Middle Eastern Championship, which he seeks this year to win for the eighteenth time in his history and to consolidate his record, and equal the number of the French rally legend Sebastien Loeb, who reached 81 victories in the World Rally Championship races in Rally Portugal last weekend.

Al-Attiyah, accompanied by his French navigator, Mathieu Baumel, in a Volkswagen car, finished the rally in first place with a time of 2:18:03.7 hours, 9:57.6 minutes ahead of his closest Lebanese competitor, Alex Feghali, accompanied by his navigator and compatriot Joseph Matar in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. 10″, runner-up with a time of 2:28:01.3 hours.

Kuwaiti Meshari Al-Dhafiri, accompanied by his Qatari navigator Nasser Al-Kuwari in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 10, ranked third with a time of 2:28:23.4 hours, while Jordanian Khaled Jumaa, accompanied by his navigator and his compatriot Tariq Al-Taher in a Mitsubishi Lancer ??? After winning the first two rounds hosted by Oman and Qatar, Al-Attiyah settled for second place in the last round, which was held in Kuwait, behind his compatriot Khaled Al-Suwaidi. between 23 and 25 September).

Nasser Al-Attiyah, in turn, expressed his happiness at winning the Jordan Rally for the tenth time in a row and enhancing his lead in the general rankings of the Middle East Championship, after his victory in Oman and Qatar and his second place in Kuwait.

Al-Attiyah said, in a press statement after the coronation, that it is a great and very good feeling to win the Jordan Rally for the fifteenth time out of nineteen participation, expressing his satisfaction with the level he appeared during the competitions, as well as the wonderful organizational level of the rally.

Al-Attiyah explains his victroy

He explained that the victory in the Jordan Rally made him consolidate his lead in the general rankings of the Middle East Championship, as he needed only two or three points in the Lebanon and Cyprus Rally, to win the title of the Middle East Rally Championship for the eighteenth time.

As for the Lebanese Alex Feghali, who achieved first place in the second category “Merck 2”, he expressed his happiness with this achievement, which was achieved despite the failures he faced, pointing out that the competition was very strong, but he succeeded in achieving second place in the rally, and the first ever in Merck Group 2.

The rally, which spanned 12 special speed stages, reached 205.54 km, and the second and last day’s competitions took place in the stages of Hath (12.69 km), Sowayma (11.08 km) and Ma’in (17 km), which the drivers fought twice.
