The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Department of Penal and Correctional Institutions, signed a cooperation agreement with Community College of Qatar, regarding the admission of inmates to enroll in university education at the college, starting from the fall semester of 2022.
The agreement was signed by Brig. General Mohammad Saud Al-Otaibi, Director of the Department, and Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Nuaimi, President of Community College of Qatar.
Under this agreement, inmates of penal institutions will have an opportunity to complete their academic education to obtain a diploma and a bachelor’s degree at Community College Qatar, and the opportunity to acquire skills and abilities and to qualify them scientifically at the university level, as well as support them to challenge their circumstances and exploit their imprisonment period and integrate them into the educational environment.
Regarding this agreement, Brig. General Mohammad Saud Al-Otaibi, said that it has a significant impact on the rehabilitation of inmates in a way that benefits them and contributes to changing their behaviour.
He explained that this partnership comes within the framework of the keenness of educational institutions in the state to take care of inmates so that they can return to society and benefit from their period of imprisonment, especially since the goals that have been achieved push everyone to exert more effort in order to reform and rehabilitate this category.
For his part, Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Nuaimi stressed the importance of this agreement to enable the inmates to complete their university education by creating a supportive educational environment for them to overcome their circumstances, rehabilitate and integrate them into the educational environment. achieve their aspirations and contribute to the desired development of the Qatari society.
He pointed out that the first batch of students who are eligible to join the Community College will be received starting from the fall semester of 2022 after completing the relevant approvals and procedures.
