Halal Qatar Festival 2022
The 10th edition of Qatar’s much-anticipated Halal Qatar Festival has officially opened today February, 21, 2022, and will run until Feb 26 in the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara.

The theme of the festival centers around a distinct feature of our heritage, one that is drawn from deep within the deserts of Qatar – sheep and goat breeding
Three species of sheep and goats ‘Al Irab’, ‘Al Awarid’ and ‘Al Suriyat’ will participate in Al Mazayen activity of the festival slated to held at southern part of Katara.
After being canceled since last year to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival is back with noting that Al Mazayen will be the focus of the six-day of this year’s Qatar Halal Festival, according to Chairman of Organizing Committee of Halal Qatar Festival Salman Al Nuaimi.
He explained that the Al Mazayen event will showcase the most beautiful Halal species within certain criteria that are measured by specialized judging committees, through the establishment of various runs in which Halal owners participate to compete.
Al Nuaimi added that the winners of first five places will receive attractive prizes.
He pointed out that the animals participating in the auctions will be delivered, which is of three categories ‘Irab’ sheep, ‘Al-Awarid’ goats and Syrian sheep. Al Nuaimi noted that the competition of first and second categories will be held from February 21 to 23, while the third category will be from 24 to 26 of the same month.
Al Nuaimi stressed Katara’s keenness to launch the Qatar Halal Festival as one of the most prominent heritage festivals that contribute to reviving the Badia heritage, preserving the customs and traditions associated with it, enhancing the ancient heritage in the hearts of generations, and providing them with a realistic picture of the various details of life and the wild and desert environment.
He also stated that the festival will provide an ideal and distinctive platform for breeders to display and acquire the best types of halal (animals), and introduce the advantages and specifications found in sheep and goats.
Al Nuaimi said that this platform provides in terms of competition and motivation for breeders to improve animal production and develop livestock sector, in addition to the cultural and educational role that it plays. He said that the festival is in the field of promoting national identity and consolidating it in the hearts of contemporary generations.
