INJAZ Qatar, in partnership with Boeing and STEM for Kids introduced 200 students of the Edison Group schools to the secrets of ‘Science All Around Us’, through a series of workshops focused on exploring the science in everyday life.

STEM for Kids

STEM for Kids, an education organization that provides science, technology, engineering & maths (STEM)-based courses, designed and delivered the hands-on program to groups of 10- to 14-year-old students (grades 6 to 8), to engage young people in scientific research.

This initiative is in line with the emphasis that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has placed on the importance of STEM learning.

During the program, students solved challenges that investigated common scientific phenomena and mechanisms including “Why do we notice small patches of sunlight when we pass under a tree covered with leaves?” (Pinhole Camera), “How has a simple machine or screw helped mankind in transporting water from a low-lying body of water to irrigation ditches?” (Archimedes’ Screw) and “If a prism can scatter white light into its constituent colors, can all these colors combine to form white light?” (Newton’s Wheel).

STEM Workshops

The STEM workshops help students gain foundational literacy, scientific literacy, computational thinking; critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills. They also developed their curiosity, initiative, perseverance, adaptability, leadership, and social and cultural awareness.
