Qatari athletes win multiple medals at Gulf Sports Games in Kuwait

The Al Sharq newspaper reported on 18 May 2022, the multiple wins of Qatari athletes at the third Gulf Sports Games taking place in Kuwait which commenced on 13 May 2022, and will continue till 31 May 2022.

The second day of the championship saw the win of 4 medals by Qatari athletes, 2 gold and 2 silver.

One of the achievements was for the 400-meter hurdles which was a gold medal won by Ashraf Othman with a time of 50.27. Other medals won were the gold medal for the 800 meters race by Abdul Rahman Hassan and Musab Abdul Rahman who won the silver medal.

Additionally, Moaz Ibrahim won a silver medal in the discus competition with a record of 58.87 metres.

The total tally of medals won by Qatari athletes throughout the games until the second day, 17 May 2022 is 7; being four gold and three silver.

Qatar also witnessed wins from the female participants, such as Saja Saadoun who won the bronze medal for the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.46 minutes.

The swimming competition at the third Gulf Sports Games brought wins for Qatar as well, with a total of 5 medals; one gold, three silver, and one bronze.

Qatari swimmer Abdulaziz Al-Obaidli won the gold medal in the 400m individual medley with a record time of 4:34.31 and swimmer Omar Hassan won the silver medal with a time of 4:36.48 minutes. Karim Salah won the silver medal in the 1500-meter freestyle race.

Furthermore, the Qatari relay team, who were Abdulaziz Al-Obaidli, Tamim Al-Hamayda, Muhammad Mahmoud, and Youssef Hassan achieved the silver medal in the 4 x 100-meter medley race.

Lastly, Qatari swimmer Tamim Al-Hamayda won the bronze medal in the 200-meter butterfly.
