Moldovan Prime Minister Attends Inauguration of Qatari-Moldovan Friendship Statute

The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) inaugurated this evening the statue of friendship between the Republic of Moldova and the State of Qatar, in a celebration marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, in the presence of HE the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Natalia Gavrilita, HE Minister of State and Head of the National Library Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Director General of Katara Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, HE Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Qatar Victor Tvircun, Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, as well as a large number of Their Excellencies ambassadors, and representatives of diplomatic missions.

The statue of friendship in “Katara” is a bronze piece of art entitled “Together towards the Future”, in reference to the growth and prosperity of relations between the two countries.

The exhibition “Picture of the World in Stone and Metal” was also opened in Building 47 Gallery 2. It depicts 28 pieces of art by seven artists from Moldova. The pieces varied in their shapes and ideas, and most of them were made of bronze, granite, steel and aluminum.

In a statement to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova praised the efforts made in organizing these events. She said: “It gives me great pleasure to visit the State of Qatar to celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the State of Qatar, where I received a warm welcome, which culminated in the inauguration of this monument on the occasion, and the opening of this art exhibition that expresses an aspect of Moldovan culture. We look forward to strengthening cooperation between our two countries in various fields.” For his part, Katara Director General Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti said in a similar statement to (QNA): “Ties between countries and the openness of peoples to each other’s cultures increases with such events,” stressing that culture is the main pillar and the first key to advance peoples and bring about rapprochement between them, noting at the same time that the Katara Cultural Village has devoted all efforts and potentials to achieve rapprochement between peoples and build bridges of communication between them.

Dr. Al-Sulaiti noted that Katara is cooperating with the various embassies accredited to the country to achieve its mission to be a crossroads of cultures and an umbrella for creativity and innovators.

In turn, HE Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Qatar Victor Tvircun, praised, in a statement to QNA, the people in charge of the Katara Cultural Village for all the support they provided in order to organize these events, stressing the depth of relations between the Republic of Moldova and the State of Qatar wishing them further development and prosperity.

It is worth noting that Katara has previously organized, with the Embassy of Moldova in the country, many joint events.
